Update 21.01.26

1. Compliance with PPE standards: an essential basis for choosing a PPE supplier

"PPE is standardised. That's the starting point," says Nicolas Mercier. All equipment from the chosen PPE supplier must comply with the regulations in force in the country of use.

"Compliance with standards is non-negotiable. But you still need to know which standards apply, and not all users necessarily know this." The supplier's role is therefore also to inform operators about changes to standards and their correct application.

2. Wide range and simplified PPE purchasing

Having access to a complete range of PPE from a single supplier is an advantage: "It avoids having to deal with four or five different contacts. It saves time and provides clarity."

The depth of the offering also makes it possible to better cover all risks without compromise.

3. Comfort: an increasingly decisive factor

Having access to a complete range of PPE from a single supplier is an advantage: "It avoids having to deal with four or five different contacts. It saves time and provides clarity.

The depth of the offering also makes it possible to better cover all risks without compromise.

4. Do not neglect the quality of PPE

Whether you go through a PPE distributor or deal directly with the PPE manufacturer, choose equipment produced by brands committed to quality, comfort, materials and innovation: "Value for money remains a determining factor in certain industries, but it should not take priority over comfort and safety."

5. The technical expertise of the PPE manufacturer or distributor

A good PPE supplier does more than just deliver products: they assess risks and make appropriate recommendations.

"For example, Delta Plus carries out workplace audits in order to offer the right products with the right level of protection, and provides training in the use of PPE and understanding of standards": an approach that avoids guesswork when choosing equipment.

6. Geographical proximity, a guarantee of responsiveness and advice

"With this in mind, choosing a supplier close to your production sites is essential," says Nicolas Mercier. This proximity allows for rapid response times and a better understanding of specific needs.

Beyond the commercial relationship, it is important to favour a supplier who can position themselves as a true partner in the field.

7. The key role of innovation at your PPE supplier

The PPE market is constantly evolving: "Innovation often sets manufacturers apart. A new material, an integrated accessory, a more ergonomic design... These are strong assets."

Trade shows are often the venue for these launches, which strengthen a supplier's brand image.

Among the trade shows for manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in the PPE sector are the A+A Düsseldorf trade show in Germany and ExpoProtection in Paris!

What does PPE mean?

What are the three categories of PPE?

PPE is classified into three categories

  • Class 1 PPE for work equipment covering common risks
  • Class 2 PPE for specific protective equipment designed to protect against significant risks
  • Class 3 PPE for safety equipment for serious risks with irreversible or fatal effects
Is the supplier required to provide training on the use of PPE?

A quality supplier generally provides clear instructions and can support users with training, advice on use and assistance in selecting PPE to ensure that the personal protective equipment is suitable for the workplace.
